Safety & trust · Canada and Germany
Safety on Rocky Drive is a set of mechanisms you can see in the app — who is driving, where the car is, and who answers when something goes wrong. The same standard applies in every city we serve in Canada and Germany.
01 · Before the ride
Every driver and every vehicle is verified before a first trip, then re-checked on a schedule. Verification is a state, not a moment.
Identity, driving licence, driving record and a criminal background check before a first trip, with periodic re-checks after that. In Canada, drivers also hold the vehicle-for-hire licence their city or province issues; in Germany, the Fahrerlaubnis zur Fahrgastbeförderung (P-Schein).
Every vehicle is inspected before it joins the platform, stays within the model-year limits set by its city, and is insured for commercial passenger transport on every trip. Cabin standards are checked, not assumed.
Rocky Drive only operates where it holds the licence to — under each city's vehicle-for-hire framework in Canada and the PBefG in Germany. The exact wording for each market is below, unchanged from our regulatory notes.
A minimum 4.8 rating to stay on the platform, professional conduct in the car, and a no-phone-handling policy while a passenger is on board. Falling short means coaching first, then removal.
Licensed in each market
Quoted as written in our market notes. Rocky Drive currently operates in Canada and Germany only.
Canada
Ride-hailing in Canada is regulated municipally and provincially. Rocky Drive operates under each city's vehicle-for-hire framework, drivers are screened and licensed locally, and every trip is covered by commercial passenger-transport insurance.
Germany
Rocky Drive operates in Germany under the Personenbeförderungsgesetz (PBefG). Rides are fulfilled by licensed rental-car (Mietwagen) operators, every driver holds a passenger-transport licence (Fahrerlaubnis zur Fahrgastbeförderung, the 'P-Schein'), and each trip is insured for passenger transport.
02 · During the ride
From the moment the car is assigned until you close the door, the trip is visible — to you, to anyone you share it with, and to our safety systems.
Your driver's position, the route and your arrival time, live from pickup to drop-off — on the web and in the app, with the plate and the driver's photo alongside.
Send a live link to anyone. They see the car, the plate, the route and the arrival time in a browser, without downloading anything or creating an account.
Calls and messages between you and your driver go through a masked number. Neither of you sees the other's real number, during the ride or afterwards.
One tap reaches 911 in Canada or 112 in Germany and sends your live location, the plate and the trip details with the call. Our safety team follows up on every use.
If a trip leaves its expected route for longer than a detour would explain, you get a check-in notification in the app and the trip is flagged for review.
Set a quiet ride, your cabin temperature and how much conversation you'd like before pickup. Drivers see your preferences, not your reasons.
03 · After the ride
Receipts, lost items, feedback and — when it matters — a dedicated safety team that reviews what happened rather than closing the ticket.
Support is available 24/7 in English, French and German, from the trip screen in the app or at support@ridex.example. A person answers, not a decision tree.
Open the trip in your history and tap Lost item. You're connected to the driver through a masked number; if there's no answer, support takes over and arranges the return.
You rate the driver, the driver rates the ride, and neither sees the other's rating for that trip. Low ratings trigger a review, and patterns trigger action.
Anything you report as a safety concern goes to a dedicated safety team, not general support. The driver's account is paused while the review is open, and you hear the outcome.
Privacy
A ride tells a story — where you live, where you work, when you travel. We collect what a trip needs, keep it under the privacy law of the country you ride in, and hide the rest from everyone who doesn't need it.

Five systems run under every trip. None of them need you to do anything; all of them are there when something is wrong.
Braking, cornering and speed patterns on every trip feed a driving score for each driver. Scores below the Rocky Drive threshold trigger coaching first, then removal from the platform.
An unusual stop, a long idle or a hard impact prompts a check-in with both driver and rider. If neither answers, the safety team calls — and can pass the trip's live location to emergency services.
Every trip is compared with its expected route as it happens. A significant deviation alerts you in the app and is logged for review, whether or not you report it.
Driver and passenger both confirm the match before the trip starts — the plate and the driver's name on your screen, your name on theirs — so nobody gets into the wrong car.
Verification doesn't expire quietly. Licence status, driving record and background checks are re-run on a schedule, and a lapse in any of them pauses the driver's account until it's resolved.
